Cooperative Research Program (CoRP)Advanced Satellite Products Branch (ASPB)The Advanced Satellite Products Branch (in Madison, Wisconsin) investigates how to exploit the capabilities of Earth-observing satellites to improve our nation's weather forecasts. In particular the branch obtains more accurate information from satellites about the temperature, moisture and wind at different levels of the atmosphere, as well as the location of forest fires, smoke plumes and volcanic ash, all to support aviation weather and safety activity. ASPB has its own site, hosted at CIMSS at UW-Madison, here: Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS) Research Projects
