John Hale III Awarded Minority Federal Government Public Servant of the Year Award 2014

At a ceremony in Washington D.C. on November 21, the Minority Chamber of Commerce (MCC) awarded John Hale III, Director of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Small Business and disadvantage Utilization, the National Minority Federal Government Public Servant of the Year Award 2014.

The award recognizes individuals who exemplify the best in leadership and epitomize the core values of a successful leader in public service: strength, innovation, ingenuity, and knowledge. Among the honorees were: Vincent Gray, Mayor of Washington, D.C.; Senator Tim Scott (R-SC); Rep. Mia Love (R-UT); Andre Gudger, Director Small Business Department of Defense; and Mauricio Vera, Director Small Business USAID; and several other distinguished business and government leaders.

“For 14 years, these Awards have been recognized as the gold standard of achievement for minority executives working in public service”, said Doug Mayorga, President, Minority Chamber of Commerce, “Mr. Hale represents the high standard of professionalism, efficiency and innovation as the Director of the Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization of the U.S Department of Energy”

About John Hale III:
John Hale III is the Director of the Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization at the Department of Energy, reporting directly to the Office of the Secretary. In this role, Hale advocates for small businesses including small disadvantaged, 8(a), women-owned, service-disabled veteran-owned, and Historically Underutilized Business Zone businesses. He is committed to increasing contracting opportunities awarded to small and disadvantaged businesses, establishing goals, promulgating policy, and developing programs to encourage small business participation in procurement opportunities. Hale also specializes in guiding small businesses through the process of contracting with the Department of Energy.
