Rachel Ramirez, CEO and President of Performance Excellence Partners (PEP) of Huntington Beach, CA, accepted the award for Woman-Owned Small Business of the Year at the Small Business Forum & Expo in Tampa, FL, on July 12, 2014.

Established in 2000, PEP is a certified Economically Disadvantaged Woman Owned Small Business (EDWOSB) and participated in the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Mentor Protégé program. The company specializes in collaborating with Federal government and non-profits to identify and enact strategies for improved performance, efficiencies, operations, and results.

PEP has served as the prime contractor for federal agencies including the Departments of Energy, Labor, Homeland Security, Health and Human Services, and Education.

As for DOE in FY 2013, PEP has contracts serving the Office of Nuclear Energy (NE) and the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) Project Management Office.

In FY 2013, PEP accomplished the following:
· Continued to strengthen as a small consulting business with $7.8 million in revenue
· Featured as one of the top women and minority-owned businesses by revenue in the Orange
County Business Journal
· Aligned with two small businesses designated 8(a)
· Began development of General Services Administration (GSA) OASIS Small Business proposal that
later earned one of 43 small business contract awards out of 330 applicants
· Supported successfully multiple, complex projects for DOE1, HHS, DHS and DOL
