To kick off Black History Month, families can enjoy a movie about a teacher named Dorothy who gets whisked away from her intercity neighborhood to the mysterious land of Oz. This G-rated movie stars Diana Ross and Michael Jackson and runs for 134 minutes.
Discover science and fun in our monthly STEM evening, with a variety of programs like paper airplane contests and catapult-building. For ages 5 and up.
Children can enjoy Valentine’s Day with Tiana and Naveen in "The Princess and the Frog". The movie is rated G and runs for one hour and thirty-eight minutes.
Children can enjoy poems, songs, and stories written by or about famous African Americans in this special Black History story time! Poets include Nikki Grimes and Langston Hughes. Appropriate for children ages 0-6.
Enjoy a dog-themed story time, a special craft afterwards, and a showing of the classic film "Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey". The film begins at 5 pm, is rated G, and runs for 84 minutes.

Humans of Ballou: The Ballou Story Project : Volume 3
This book is written about a High School located in Southeast Washington, District of Columbia. It is located in in Ward 8. The school is named after Dr Frank Washington Ballou. This book gave the students a desire to keep the future alive, to express their feelings and to have confident in themselves. Thanks goes to the Principal, Teachers and Students. In 1983 aboard the space shuttle Challenger, Dr. Sally Ride became America's first female astronaut. What was it like to be our first woman in space? How do you eat, sleep, and work in zero gravity?
The Library is partnering with Infinite Possibilities International for a five-week film series. The viewing and discussion of international films will engage and expose both adults and youth on issues of urban life, community building, wildlife and other interesting topics in other cultures. The proposed films include mixture of adult and youth/family films in alternating weeks.
