If you enjoy playing games, then visit the Parklands-Turner Neighborhood Library on Thursday nights at 5:00 p.m. for Game Night! Kids and teens will enjoy a variety of competitive games; from video games, to card games, to board games! Every Thursday will feature a different type of game. Recommended for ages 7-16.

Parklands-Turner Library Homework Zone

Welcome to The Homework Zone! The Parklands-Turner Library staff cares about the education and well being of youth in our neighborhood. In support of scholastic achievement, library staff invite children ages 8 to 15 to visit the Parklands-Turner Library on Wednesdays after school for a unique study hall opportunity. Each Wednesday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., library staff will establish a calm study environment called The Homework Zone  in the children's room.

The Parklands-Turner Neighborhood Library has a terrific collection of comic books and graphic novels.  Each month, library staff will select a popular title for you to enjoy. Children are encouraged to visit and read in the library, or check out the selected comics on display.  Better still, kids can select any comic titles from any library across the city and have them delivered to Parklands-Turner, especially for you!
Books to the Big Screen

From Amazing Books To Incredible Films

The Parklands-Turner Neighborhood Library has an assortment of amazing books that have been adapted into incredible blockbuster movies. Every month, library staff will select a book that has been adapted into a film and displayi it all month long for your reading pleasure. Read and enjoy the featured book of the month. At the end of each month, library staff will present the film adaptation on the big screen TV for your further enjoyment.

Story Time: Jerry Pinkney

In honor of Black History Month, the Parklands-Turner library will host a special story time and information display featuring books written and illustrated by Jerry Pinkney. Jerry Pinkney is an African American author and illustrator who has been the recipient of five Caldecott Honor Medals, five Coretta Scott King awards, and four Coretta Scott King Honor awards. The Parklands-Turner library staff is excited to share these wonderful works at Children's story time on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 10 a.m.

Celebrate Black History Month with us and become a printmaker. Explore and discuss artwork by Elizabeth Catlett, Hale Woodruff, and Aaron Douglass. Learn basic printmaking techniques, carve African diaspora-inspired designs into linoleum blocks, and make prints.
