U.S. National Committee for IUPAC is seeking outstanding U.S. scientists and engineers under the age of 45, with interests and expertise related to the working groups of IUPAC, to travel as Young Observers to Brazil. The deadline for the application is January 27.

On Tuesday, January 24th, the
Government-University-Industry Research Roundtable will host a webinar to consider guiding questions and important resources for thinking through the design, organization, and management of an educational makerspace with Jessica Parker, Director of Community and Learning , and Stephanie Chang, Director of Programs, both from Maker Education Initiative.

On Dec. 21, a workshop discussed the findings and recommendations of the report on the SBIR and STTR programs at the Department of Energy, which is the final report of the Committee on Capitalizing on Science, Technology, and Innovation: An Assessment of the Small Business Research Program (Phase II). It provided an opportunity to mark the Committee’s extensive work in documenting the concept and performance of these programs, as well as a look ahead to the future of these programs.
