DOE Grants Funds to Ohio EPA for Portsmouth Site Cleanup Oversight

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced today it has awarded a grant of approximately $3 million to the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (Ohio EPA) to support ongoing oversight and monitoring of the environmental cleanup at the former Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant Site in south central Ohio.

Cincinnati -- The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) today issued a Draft Request for Proposals (RFP) for deactivation and remediation services at the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant (PGDP). A contract that includes cost-plus-award-fee and indefinite-delivery indefinite-quantity contract line items for the purpose of providing deactivation and remediation services at PGDP is anticipated.

Removal of Process Gas Equipment Marks Portsmouth Site Cleanup Milestone

PIKE COUNTY, Ohio – The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) recently met a significant milestone in the Portsmouth Site (PORTS) deactivation effort by removing the final component of process gas equipment (PGE) from the cell floor of the X-326 facility.  The X-326 is one of three, 30-plus-acre buildings that were used in the uranium enrichment process when the gaseous diffusion plant was in operation.

Energy Department Extends Contract for Cleanup of Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) today announced that it has exercised its option to extend the contract for decontamination and decommissioning (D&D) of the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant for a period of 30 months beyond the current expiration date of March 28, 2016.

(Dec. 24, 2015) – The U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Environmental Management (EM) today announced it is extending its contract for Operations of Depleted Uranium Hexafluoride (DUF6) Conversion Facilities at Paducah, Kentucky and Portsmouth, Ohio for a period of up to nine months.  The contract period for the current contractor, BWXT Conversion Services LLC (BWCS), had been scheduled to expire on January 1, 2016.

The contract period for the current contractor, Swift & Staley, Inc. (SSI), had been scheduled to expire on September 15, 2015.

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Portsmouth/Paducah Project Office (PPPO) of the U.S. Department of Energy on March 17, 2015 announced the launch of a new website to provide timely and easily accessible public information about DOE’s Environmental Management (EM) cleanup efforts at the Portsmouth, Ohio and Paducah, Kentucky Gaseous Diffusion Plant Sites.

Cincinnati - The Department of Energy today awarded a task order to Sage Energy Trading LLC of Jenks, OK to supply the required quantity of natural gas on a daily basis through the Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company to the interconnect of the vendor and Portsmouth site (PORTS) for final use.

DOE, Contractors Gather Food for Less Fortunate

PADUCAH, Ky. – The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and its Paducah contractors are collecting food and personal hygiene items to help restock the shelves of Paducah area service organizations that help less fortunate people.

The national Feds Feed Families campaign, which runs June 1 through August 27, began locally with the collection of red, white, and blue cans of food that were fashioned into an American Flag display at the DOE Site Office near the entrance of the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant.
