Wyoming ES GIS
Wyoming Ecological Services (WYES) GIS/Geospatial program uses GIS (Geographic Information Systems), GPS (Global Positioning Systems), and other Geospatial data and products to conduct spatial analysis and produce data, graphics, and maps to support WYES work and FWS mission. These Geospatial tools allows the spatial element to be included at a landscape level to improve management of resources.
GIS layers developed by the WYES office are available for download using the links below. For any problems with the download or questions with the data itself, please contact the WYES Cartographer - Jim Lindstrom (james_lindstrom@fws.gov).

Area Of Influence Data Download
This data represents Areas of Influence for species listed under the Endangered Species Act (ESA) and covers the extent of Wyoming. Areas Of Influence (AOI) identify areas where any project located within should consider potential effects to the Threatened, Endangered, Proposed, and Candidate species and designated and proposed Critical Habitat, in reference to Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act of 1973, as amended. AOI typically encompass larger areas than simply where the species is known to exist because of direct and indirect effects to the species and their habitat. It is important to consider potential effects to the species and their habitat within these larger areas. Action agencies are encouraged to refer to the Service’s Information, Planning, and Conservation System (IPAC) or contact the FWS Wyoming Ecological Services Office for additional information.
Areas Of Influence were developed from best available data and information. The Service will modify and refine Areas Of Influence appropriately as new and more refined data and information becomes available. If species are found outside the Area Of Influence boundary, the species is NOT excluded from Section 7 Consultation and project proponents should contact the FWS Wyoming Ecological Services Office.
