The Electronic Systems Support Detachment (ESD) located here in Astoria works directly for Base Seattle C4IT Department (formerly ESU Seattle). The ESD provides support services for some of our key infrastructure and equipment utilized by all Coast Guard personnel in meeting their daily missions. This includes maintenance of telephone systems, computer systems, communications and navigation equipment, and a variety of high tech links that make them all function. The ESD Astoria team services systems and equipment for all Sector Columbia River units and the cutters home ported here. The Regional Systems Manager (RSM) also works for the ESD in Astoria. The Regional Systems Manager works jointly with the IT shop to maintain the computer systems and customer profiles. Electronic equipment is supported through commercial contract with the contractor (currently Alutiiq) shop located at Tongue Point.
