The National Archives at New York City maintains the historically significant records of Federal agencies and courts in New Jersey, New York, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands dating from 1685 to the present. We also hold select microfilm publications of the National Archives and provide access to a variety of online historical resources. Visit us on the 3rd floor of the historic Alexander Hamilton U.S. Custom House at One Bowling Green in lower Manhattan.

    • all original records must be returned by 11:30 AM
  • Thursday, Nov. 24 - closed for holiday
  • Monday, Dec. 26 - closed for holiday
  • Monday, Jan. 2 - closed for holiday

Researchers wishing to use textual records must schedule an appointment prior to visiting.
Visitors must show a Photo ID when entering the building.

Buses may drop off groups at State Street or Whitehall Street. There is no parking at the museum. There are several parking garages located nearby. See current parking options.
