NNSA Principal Deputy Administrator Madelyn Creedon delivered remarks last week for a force graduation ceremony at the Office of Secure Transportation’s (OST) Training Command Headquarters in Fort Chaffee, Arkansas. 

Six graduates completed the training program, earning the title Nuclear Materials Courier. The program involved 24 weeks of preparation, including 12 weeks of training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, Georgia, where candidates completed the Uniform Police Training Program certification course. The class then completed 12 weeks of Nuclear Materials Courier Basic training at Fort Chaffee.

“Congratulations to the OST graduates,” Creedon said. “The path here has been challenging, but the mission is critical to NNSA and the Nation.”

This OST class is the first to earn two federal law enforcement certifications. Graduates now hold both the Uniform Police Training Program certification and federal agent credentials.

The Nuclear Materials Courier basic training took place at the Transportation Safeguards Training Site, two different Army National Guard installations in Arkansas and Oklahoma, and NNSA’s Kansas City National Security Campus. Graduates completed more than 250 hours of training during day and night conditions at Fort Chaffee.

The graduates will assume operational roles with OST’s Eastern and Central Commands.
