This memo states that starting on March 1, 2015, the services are authorized to use the DoD ID number in place of the service member's Social Security number (SSN) as the primary means of sample identification during the collection of urinalysis specimens. Until a complete transition to the DoD ID number occurs, samples will be accepted at the drug testing laboratories with either the SSN or DoD ID number as the identifier. The date the SSN will no longer be accepted will be promulgated in future correspondence.
