Welcome! If you are new to teaching online at UNT, one of the first things you will want to do is check to make sure that you can access Blackboard and that your course section or sections appear on you course list. Below is a brief checklist of steps for checking your access and course list. More detailed instructions with screenshots are available on the Check Access to Blackboard and Check Course Section and Materials Pages in this guide. (See left navigation.)

Check Access to Blackboard

Check Course Section and Materials

  • Check to be sure all sections you are teaching exist in Blackboard Learn. If you do not see your sections, think some of the sections should be combined, or have other general questions, please contact the CLEAR Faculty Helpdesk at 940-369-7394 or via email at clearhelp@unt.edu.
  • If you are a new faculty member teaching an online or blended course that was designed by someone else, you should review the materials carefully. Check the content and links, check and set-up due dates for assignments and assessments, and be sure to preview the course as a student so that you can see the course as students will. More information and tips on reviewing the course content is available on Become Familiar With Your Course page in this guide.
  • If you are a continuing faculty member, your new section may be empty until you copy content into it. Quickly copy content from the previous semester into your new course following these instructions.

Complete Start of Semester Tasks

  • Although you and your students are automatically added to your course, teaching assistants are not. Add teaching assistants into appropriate role through Users and Groups located in the Course Management Control Panel.
  • Make your course available inside your course or by using Qwickly.
