Departments

Welcome from the Chair

Welcome to the Information Technology and Decision Sciences (ITDS) web site. We are one of five departments in the College of Business. ITDS offers Undergraduate, Masters, and Doctoral programs in the fields of both information systems and decision sciences. In addition, we offer the prestigious National Security Administration (NSA) 4012 Security Certification at the undergraduate level. We prepare students to use technology to solve business problems across a variety of sectors and applications, including government, healthcare, finance, manufacturing, retail, and services.

The rise of the global workplace and the ever-changing nature of information technology require college graduates who can respond successfully to the challenges created by this dynamic environment. To maintain and improve the quality of its degree programs, ITDS works closely with many of the world business leaders located in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, ITDS students, ITDS alumni,  and the Center for Decision and Information Technologies (C-DIT). For example, we work closely with IBM to provide extremely sought after Mainframe skills for BCIS undergraduates. We also work closely with Microsoft to provide students opportunities to participate in the Microsoft Imagine Cup, where they develop their skills and apply their knowledge to solving a problem of global importance.  Students can also develop much sought after business intelligence/analytics skills and knowledge as they  learn to work with large, real world data sets to improve business decision making.  Because of our close ties to industry, we offer a set of degree programs that customize knowledge and skill requirement to market demands, while preparing all of our students for a commitment to life-long learning.

I encourage you to examine our web site and the programs offered by the Department of Information Technology and Decision Sciences. We are interested in any comments and insights that will improve the quality of our offerings.
