Inspector General (IG) Complaints Resolution (IGQ)
The IG ensures the concerns of all complainants and the best interest of the Air Force are addressed through objective fact-finding. IGs assist Airmen of all ranks, family members, civilian employees, retirees, and other civilians.
Where do I start?
Though not required, commanders and supervisors should be your first stop when you have a complaint. Complaints resolution is an inherent part of a commander’s or supervisor's responsibility. However, if they can’t help, or if they are at the root of the complaint, contact the IG. If you are unsure about what to do, give me a call and we can discuss your options.
Air Force members have the right to:
File an IG complaint at any level without going through your supervisory channel
Address your complaint to any IG... though it may be transferred to the nearest IG
File a complaint with an IG without fear of reprisal
Request withdrawal of your IG complaint in writing…IG may still examine the issues and treat as a third-party
Request the next higher-level IG review your complaint within 90 days of receiving the IG response
Submit complaints anonymously
Submit a complaint on behalf of another individual
Request whistleblower protection under 10 U.S.C. 1034
