Project ID:
15F3012F000

Summary

The Office of Inspector General is initiating the second evaluation of the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) compliance with the Reducing Over-Classification Act of 2010. The Act requires inspectors general of departments authorized to make original classifications to conduct two evaluations of their departments by September 30, 2016. We issued the results of our initial evaluation on September 19, 2013. Our audit objectives for the second evaluation are to assess whether DOT has implemented policies and procedures to classify information effectively that comply with Federal policy and regulations and to identify any practices that may lead to persistent misclassification of information.
