Welcome

Welcome to U.S. Africa Command, Command Surgeon webpage. The Command Surgeon is the senior medical advisor to the Combatant Commander, as well as the command’s senior staff for all health service support policy, plans, engagements, and exercises.

The Office of the Command Surgeon oversees U.S. military medical operations across the AFRICOM area of responsibility which includes an operational area of 53 sovereign African nations, supporting U.S. forces and their families.  

 

Mission

Sustain the health of our forces, support ongoing operations, and strengthen partner-nation military medicine capability.

 

Vision

Shaping medical stability operations through partnership building.

The Command Surgeon also provides policy guidance to six component Surgeons representing four services (Air Forces Africa/AFAFRICA, U.S. Army Africa/USARAF, Navy Africa/NAVAF, and Marine Forces Africa/MARFOAF), one sub-unified command (Special Operations Africa/SOCAF), and Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA).
