  • Mission: Provide primary inpatient and outpatient surgical care for our population including all aspects of the general surgery specialty and many aspects of its subspecialties to include colorectal surgery, trauma/critical care surgery, and surgical endoscopy.
  • Scope of Practice: All levels of complexity are treated within the areas of general surgery listed under the mission. Patients are referred to a higher level treatment facility if existing personnel, equipment or diagnostic capabilities are not readily available to support their needs.

 - Orthopedic Surgery

  • Mission: Provide primary inpatient and outpatient surgical care for our population including all aspects of the general surgery specialty and many aspects of its subspecialties to include colorectal surgery, trauma/critical care surgery, and surgical endoscopy.
  • Scope of Practice: All levels of complexity are treated within the areas of general surgery listed under the mission. Patients are referred to a higher level treatment facility if existing personnel, equipment or diagnostic capabilities are not readily available to support their needs.

 - Physical Therapy

  • Mission: To provide physical rehabilitative services to all beneficiaries who have impairments, functional limitations, disabilities, or changes in physical function resulting from injury, disease or other causes.
  • Scope of Practice: Outpatient and acute care inpatient services to include neuromusculoskeletal evaluations and treatment planning; pre-operative evaluation, instruction, and rehabilitation for orthopedic surgeries; therapeutic exercise instruction and prescription; modality treatments (heat, cold, electrical stimulation, joint mobilization, traction; instruction in the use of ambulatory aids, orthotics on a limited basis and special assistive devices; general patient/client education to include classes for mechanical back pain, pregnancy and exercise, and weight management; and prevention and wellness services to include health promotion and injury prevention awareness.

 - Otolaryngology / Head and Neck Surgery

  • Mission: Provide evaluation and treatment of surgical and medical conditions of the head and neck.
  • Scope of Practice: The variety of medical and surgical conditions treated include but are not limited to:

    - Acute and chronic ear disease including infections, hearing loss, and balance disorders
    - Hearing reconstructive surgery including prosthetics
    - Nasal and Sinus disorders including natural and traumatic deformities, and infections
    - Laryngeal (voice) disorders including benign and malignant growths
    - Salivary gland tumors and infections
    - Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Snoring
    - Chronic and severe acute tonsil infections and tumors
    - Emergency and chronic airway management
    - Facial cosmetic surgery including the ear, eye, nose and face
    - Facial, mandible and orbital reconstruction after trauma
    - Neck infections and masses
    - Thyroid disorders requiring surgical treatment
    - Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) biopsies
    - Airway and esophageal foreign bodies
    - Skin tumor excisions and reconstruction
  • Location: Bassett Hospital 1st floor

- Audiology

  • Mission: Provide a broad range of preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic services for hearing disorders.
  • Scope of Practice: Includes diagnostic and screening hearing evaluations; tympanometry; acoustic reflex testing; auditory brainstem response (ABRs), otoacoustic emissions, hearing aid dispensing and ENG. Responsible for managing the USARAK Hearing Conservation Program.
