Unlike prescription medications, supplements such as protein powder and fat burners are not regulated by the Food and Drug Administration. When choosing supplements, personnel at the Shaw Health Promotions office recommend looking for logos such as these that indicate the product has been tested by a third party and has been found to have no adverse reactions. As a result of high levels of rainfall late last year and unseasonably high temperatures the past few months, experts predict mosquitos to be out in higher numbers than usual this year for the Shaw Air Force Base area. These insects have the potential to carry viruses that can be harmful to humans, and the best way to prevent the spread of these viruses is to keep the mosquito population under control. By eliminating sources of stagnant water; installing fine screens on doors and windows; wearing insect repellant; and donning closely-woven, heavy fabrics when outdoors, Team Shaw personnel can minimize their risk of coming in contact with a potentially dangerous insect-transmitted virus.
