The Warfighter exercise is a two-week command and control exercise to test and evaluate a headquarters reaction, and methods of battle pertaining to its management and execution abilities, through a virtual battlefield.

The joint exercise will improve information flow and processes between higher commands and subordinate units. With the National Guard being half of the Army's combat power the exercise platform provides a necessary opportunity for them to better prepare and sync with active component and other forces such as the Air Force and Canadian Forces, allowing for better integration. 

1st Army East is also playing a role for the 38th Division-  to advise and assist in their exercise.
