FOIA Vision
The Public has a right to information concerning the activities of its Government; however, the Government is equally committed to safeguarding national security, enhancing the effectivess of law enforcement agencies, protecting sensitive business information and, not least, preserving privacy.
The Freedom of Information Act Program (DODR 5400.7) allows the general public, including foreign citizens, military and civilian personnel acting as private citizens, to request records electronically or in writing from the Federal Government.
How To Make A FOIA Request
Before making a FOIA request, first look to see if the information you are requesting is already publicly available. You can check out our Reading Room in the General Information Area or visit FBO.gov.
To submit a FOIA request, click the button to the right and fill out the online form asking for the information our agency may hold. You must be willing to pay fees or ask for a waiver, if you qualify.
