This course is designed for Civilian leaders in permanent appointment supervisor
or managerial positions and who are adaptive, innovative, self-aware, and
capable of effectively leading a complex organization, guiding programs, and
managing associated resources. The training focus is on strategic thinking and
assessment, change management, developing a cohesive organization, managing a
diverse workplace, and management of resources.
Program Details
The AC consists of a dL course and a four-week resident course. The resident
course will be taken after successful completion of the dL course and takes
place in a university setting encompassing a classroom environment and small
group seminars.
The dL phase must be completed prior to taking the resident phase. The time
length between completing the dL course and beginning the resident course should
not exceed 180 days. Those unable to successfully complete the dL course are not
eligible for the resident phase.
Applicant Eligibility
- Army Civilians, grades GS-13 to GS-15 or equivalent, in permanent
appointments
- Army Non-appropriated Fund (NAF), Wage Grade (WG), Local National (LN)
- Distributed Learning (dL) course is available to all Army Civilian Corps
members as a self-development tool.

Priority 1 - Required course for all Army Civilians in a
permanent appointment to a supervisory or managerial position, GS-13 and above
who have not received course/experience substitution.
Priority 2 - Army senior level Civilians, GS-13 and above or
comparable pay band, currently not in a supervisory or managerial position.
Priority 3 - Military supervisors of Civilians or in managerial
positions and other DOD leaders.
Prerequisites
- Foundation Course (required only for individuals
hired after Sept. 30, 2006)
- Advanced Course dL Phase I Prerequisites must be complete before
registering for the resident phase of the course.

website.
Funding
Most permanent Army Civilians, to include Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF), Wage
Grade (WG) and Local National (LN) employees, are centrally funded to attend the
resident phase.
Important Dates
Registration is ongoing for Phase I (online). Students cannot enroll in Phase II
(resident) until they have received notification of successful completion of
Phase I.
