Lieutenant Colonel Donald E. Stewart graduated from Bellarmine College and was commissioned in May 1997. He is a graduate of the Armor Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, and the Command and General Staff College. He earned his MBA through Touro University. LTC Stewart's most recent assignment was as the Commander of 2nd Battalion, 70th Armor Regiment, 1st Infantry Division at Fort Riley, Kansas.

LTC Stewart's past assignments include Tank Platoon Leader and Company Executive Officer, 1st Battalion, 77th Armor in Schweinfurt, Germany; HHC Executive Officer, 2nd Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, Schweinfurt; Company Commander, 1st Battalion, 67th Armor at Fort Hood, Texas and Baquba, Iraq; Observer/ Controller, Hohenfels, Germany; Border Police Transition Team Leader, Spin Buldak, Afghanistan; Chief of Operations, 1st Armor Division, Wiesbaden, Germany, and Baghdad, Iraq; Executive Officer, 3d Squadron, 2d Cavalry Regiment, in Vilseck, Germany; and Executive Officer for the Chief of the Officer Readiness Division at Human Resource Command.

LTC Stewart has served in Iraq three times in support of operations, once in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, and once in Kosovo in Support of Operation Joint Guardian. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (3rd Award), the Meritorious Service Medal (6th Award), the Army Commendation Medal (2nd Award), the Army Achievement Medal (2nd Award), the Valorous Unit Award, the Meritorious Unit Citation, the Kosovo Campaign Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Operation Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Medals, the Overseas Ribbon (7th Award), the Army Service Ribbon, along with the Combat Action Badge and Airborne Badge.
