Lieutenant General Kenneth R. Dahl
Commander, U.S. Army Installation Management Command
LTG Kenneth R Dahl came to IMCOM from Joint Base Lewis McChord, Washington, where he served as deputy commanding general for I Corps.
He joined I Corps following a one-year deployment to Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, where he served as deputy commanding general-support, United States Forces Afghanistan and also commander of the United States National Support Element.
Previously, LTG Dahl served as the deputy commanding general for support for the 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry) at Fort Drum, New York. He deployed with 10th Mountain Division HQ to Kandahar, Afghanistan, as the deputy commanding general for support and stability for Regional Command South.
He served in the Pentagon on the Joint Staff, J-5 as Assistant Deputy Director for Political Military Affairs, Middle East, and also in J-3 as the Deputy Director for Operations (Team 4) in the National Military Command Center. He completed a Federal Executive Fellowship at the Brookings Institution where he focused his efforts on U.S. government interagency reform.
While commanding the 212th Field Artillery Brigade, Fort Sill OK, he deployed to Iraq and served as commander of the Joint Area Support Group Central, Multi-National Force-Iraq, providing command and control of the International (Green) Zone in support of the United States Embassy, Multinational Forces - Iraq (Forward) headquarters and the Government of Iraq.
In addition to 10th Mountain Division, LTG Dahl has served in the 3rd Infantry Division in Germany, 2nd Infantry Division in Korea, 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and 25th Infantry Division in Hawaii. He also served as an assistant professor of Military Leadership at the United States Military Academy, current operations officer for XVIII Airborne Corps, Fort Bragg, and deputy director of staff operations, Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE), Mons, Belgium.
A graduate of the U.S. Military Academy class of 1982, LTG Dahl holds a Master of Arts degree in Social Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College. He also served as a National Security Fellow in the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.
His awards and decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal (two awards), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (five awards), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (three awards), Army Achievement Medal (five awards), Air Assault Badge, Senior Parachutist Badge, Ranger Tab, and Combat Action Badge.
