Too Old for the Army
"It was interesting. I found out the US. Army had changed the rules on retirement
and in a couple of years I would be "TOO OLD' for the Army. I needed a job to carry
me from age 62 to 65 my planned retirement date. SFL-TAP helped me get my resume
together and showed me how to find out about jobs. I ended up working in my old
job as a civilian. I have no "authority," as a civilian, but I do the same job as
before. The interesting thing is my replacement has just been given orders down
range because I am here and have been told to fill in. So I guess I may be too old
for the Army, but not for the job. The key is not to be discouraged and use all
the resources and help SFL-TAP can provide. In some of the classes I was required
to attend, I remember thinking, "What a waste of time!", but I was wrong. The skills
they teach and the resources they bring to the table can really make a difference.
At least they did for me. I have a good job and am still helping the Army I served
for 30 years. Take Care!"

Transition to a GS Position
"After leaving the military I had made the choice to pursue a GS position, with
the help of the SFL-TAP Staff I was able to attain this goal. I made the goals,
set my objectives, and committed to a timeline. The staff was able to point me in
the direction,and advise my course of action. Without their guidance I dobt that
I would have been able to realize my goals."

From US Army to Veteran's Adminstration
"First I want to thank my counselors. they have helped me to prepare for my transition
from the US Army. Let me tell it is tough, if I did not have SFL-TAP and there resume
service I would be lost. 22 yrs in the Army I never had to write a resume. They
helped on how to write KSA's and how to interview. Also the TAP class worked for
how to dress for a interview. Preparation is the key. Also the CPOL class gave was
excellent. My wife used this infromation and got recommended for a job on CPOL.
Wow, it is great, now I can serve Veteran's at my new job. Thanks for the help all
I say listen to what SFL-TAP tells you and shows it the best service around. If
you had to pay for this it would cost you alot. Somone wanted to charge me $350.00
to do KSA"S and SFL-TAP showed me for free. Once again thanks SFL-TAP for the Outstanding

Lost Sheep
