Master Chief Petty Officer(AW/SW) ​CJ Mitchell

Master Chief CJ Mitchell was born and raised in Cincinnati, OH. A Boot Camp Honor Graduate, he reported to Naval Reserve Readiness Center Southfield, MI after completing PN 'A' School in Meridian, MS.  In February 1991 reported to Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron 75.  While stationed at HS 75, he advanced to PN3, PN2, qualified Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist and completed two deployments onboard USS AMERICA (CV 66) and USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN  73). 
In October 1993, Master Chief Mitchell reported to PSD, NAF Washington, D.C. and served as Customer Service and Reserve Section Supervisor.  In October 1995, Master Chief Mitchell reported to USS SIDES (FFG 14), where he served as the Personnel Officer, Administrative Officer, advanced to PN1 and achieved his Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist Qualification.  In October 1998, he reported to the staff of Commander, Naval Reserve Readiness Command Region NINETEEN.   He was selected to Chief Petty Officer in 1999. 
In May 2002, Master Chief Mitchell reported to Naval Reserve Personnel Center as the TAR PN/NC/Special Programs Detailer where he was selected for PNCS.  From October 2004 to May 2009, Master Chief Mitchell was assigned to Navy Personnel Command where he served as the Coordinator for Navy Personnel and Pay Support (PASS) Policy, PERS 3 Senior Enlisted Leader, a member of Task Force IA, the CNO's Family Readiness Examination Group and the FTS Enlisted Community Manager.  During this tour, he was selected as the 2005 Navy Personnel Command Senior Enlisted Leader of the Year Award and selected to Master Chief.
Master Chief Mitchell’s CMC tours include USS FARRAGUT (DDG 99) and Commander, Navy Reserve Forces Command.  During his tenure on the FARRAGUT he completed a successful deployment to 5th Fleet in support of the USS EISENHOWER Strike Group and Counter Piracy operations as the flagship for CTF 151. Master Chief Mitchell assumed the duties at the 15th Navy Reserve Force Master Chief in October 2013.
Master Chief Mitchell has earned his Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership from Northcentral University.  He is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy, CMC/COB course, and the National Defense University Keystone Course.  His personal awards include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (five awards) and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards).
