The DON CIO, as part of the department's information technology/cyberspace efficiency effort, issued a policy Jan. 25, 2013, mandating DON-wide policy to improve management and use (including procurement and disposal) of all networked and stand-alone unclassified copiers, printers, fax machines, scanners, multifunctional devices and related consumables and support services. The overall objective is to achieve cost savings by leveraging the established efficient procurement and managerial capabilities and process of Defense Logistics Agency Document Services.

One printing best practice is to use .75 inches as the default margin size for printing instead of the usual 1-inch.
