A data center is a facility used to house computer systems and associated components, such as telecommunications and storage systems. ...
Per Federal CIO definition, a data center is a closet, room, floor or building for the storage, management, and dissemination of data and information. These facilities house computer systems and associated components, such as database, application and storage systems and data stores. In addition, a data center generally includes redundant or backup power supplies and data communications connections, environmental controls (air conditioning, fire suppression, etc.) and special security devices. These centers support the delivery of computing capabilities to groups of Navy and Marine Corps users and provide the foundation for the DON cyber infrastructure.
