NGEN

The DON CIO is responsible for developing the vision, strategy and concept of operations for the Department's future Naval Network Environment (NNE) and its critical first step – the Next Generation Enterprise Network (NGEN). NGEN represents the future vision of the shore-based enterprise network for the DON and is the follow-on to NMCI. Transforming the DON networks, which includes NMCI and later NGEN, into the future NNE will enhance network reliability, adaptability, security and warfighter support. A primary objective is the seamless transition from NMCI to NGEN.
