General Curtis M. Scaparrotti, U.S. European Command Commander and Strategic Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) issued a statement to the media regarding Turkey Aug. 22, 2016. The below statement is provided to the media:

GRAFENWOEHR, Germany – Soldiers from the 10th Engineer Battalion, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division joined Soldiers from 11 NATO countries and one Partner for Peace country for an International Bridge Assessment Course at Ingolstadt, Germany July 11.

While Russia has supported some common security efforts in counterterrorism and counternarcotics, these contributions are overshadowed by its disregard for the sovereignty of its neighbors in Europe and its violation of numerous agreements which require Russia to act within international norms.

Representatives from 11 nations across Europe and North America met for the Arctic Security Forces Roundtable in order to promote regional understanding and enhance multilateral security operations within the Arctic area.

U.S. and Georgian Soldiers participate in close quarters battle drills, May 13, during Exercise Noble Partner 15. The two partner nations worked in teams to clear rooms and practice tactics, learning how to communicate while working together. One of the training tools used included white tape to simulate mock room. A two-man team of a U.S. and Georgian soldiers practiced clearing the objective. Paratroopers from the 173rd Airborne Brigade parachute into the opening ceremony of Exercise Noble Partner here May 10, 2015. Noble Partner is a U.S. Army Europe-Georgia exercise in support of Georgia's contribution to the NATO Response Force.

The Department of Defense announced today the consolidation of some U.S. infrastructure in Europe, including the return of 15 sites to their host nations. These actions, taken as part of the European Infrastructure Consolidation (EIC) process, will save the U.S. government approximately $500 million annually. The DoD also announced the first F-35 basing in Europe at RAF Lakenheath, UK, which will bring new opportunities for collaboration between the U.S. and UK air forces.

Military bulldozers and other equipment are staged for transportation at the designated offload pier during a pre-planned Single Ship Movement and offload of military equipment from a Maritime Prepositioning Force ship in the Trøndelag region of Norway. U.S. Marines from 2nd Marine Logistics Group out of Camp Lejeune, NC, in coordination with their Norwegian counterparts, are modernizing some of the equipment currently stored within six caves as a part of the Marine Corps Prepositioning Program-Norway by placing approximately 350 containers of gear and nearly 400 pieces of heavy rolling stock into the storage caves. Specific equipment which will greatly increase the program's readiness includes M1A1 Main Battle Tanks, Tank Retrievers, Armored Breeching Vehicles, Amphibious Assault Vehicles, Expanded Capacity Vehicle (ECV) Gun Trucks and several variants of the MTVR 7-1/2 ton trucks.
