The last time the two squads met in 2005 is was a 56-3 LSU win. The series first began in 1995, a 49-7 LSU win in Baton Rouge. The second meeting was the only shutout of the series, a 52-0 LSU win.

North Texas has a bye week on before facing the Rice Owls on September 27 in Houston. The Tigers jump into SEC play with a road game at Auburn.
