Mean Green Places 177 Student-Athletes On C-USA Honor Roll

DENTON - The University of North Texas placed 177 student-athletes on Conference USA's annual academic honor roll, the league has announced. The honorees were among 2,684 student-athletes to earn academic honors from the league.

North Texas landed 177 student-athletes on the Commissioner's Honor Roll, reserved for student-athletes who earned a cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher. Forty-nine Mean Green student-athletes with a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or better also received the Commissioner's Academic Medal.

The Mean Green placed the fifth-highest number of student-athletes who participated in league-sponsored sports on the honor roll. North Texas had the second-most academic medal winners in the league.

Football led North Texas with 35 student-athletes on the honor roll, including four medalists. Swimming and diving and women's track and field followed with 25 honorees and nine medal winners on each team.

Of the six conference schools that sponsor swimming and diving, North Texas placed the highest number of swimming student-athletes on the Commissioner's Honor Roll. And, of the 13 conference schools that sponsor women's track and field, North Texas placed the highest number of track student-athletes on the Commissioner's Honor Roll.

The Mean Green's 177 student-athletes on the honor roll is 13 more than last year, and the 49 academic medal winners is nine more from the previous year.
