COLLEGE STATION - The North Texas men's and women's cross country teams completed its season after racing in the NCAA South Central Regional championship.

"This was really exciting for Bryce (McAndrew) to finish all-region," cross country coach Stefanie Slekis said. "I was really proud of him for setting his goal becoming all-region after placing 33rd last season. The team had really high goals and trained really hard this fall. We will use this season to continue to get better each year."

Senior Bryce McAndrew led the team with a 17th place finish earning all-region and a new career high time of 30:39.0 in the 10k race. The Mean Green finished as a team in seventh place just behind Baylor at the NCAA Regional. Sophomore Mike Lowe continued his solid play coming in 47th with a time of 31:42.1. Senior Alexander Hita was 53rd with a time of 31:50.4. Junior Grady Frazier was 62nd coming in at 32:06.3 and junior Cody Campbell finished 72nd to round out the scoring at 32:23.6.

The women's team finished 13th out of 19 teams with junior Shauna Pali leading the team with a 59th place finish at 21:36.0. Sophomore Christina Moralez came in 64th (21:40.7) and senior Magdalena Escobar was 69th at 21:49.9. Senior Laura Cortez was 94th with a time of 22:38.4 and junior Kylee Kittrell rounded out the scoring in 103rd at 22:50.3.

"It was a building year for our women's team," added Slekis. We feel like we had good workouts but the results just weren't there. With such a young team, it gives us something to build upon for next year."

It was a successful season for both teams being ranked every week in the regional polls. The men's team received national votes for the first time in school history after upsetting Texas on the road at the UT Invitational Oct. 2.
