BOCA RATON, Florida - North Texas can officially clinch a spot in the Conference USA Tournament with a road win over Florida Atlantic on Thursday, but simply making the league showdown isn't the goal for a suddenly resurgent Mean Green squad.

NT has won its last two games, taken down a pair of first place teams in the last three weeks, overcome a school-record 21-point deficit against MTSU and has a chance to make some hay in the C-USA standings if it can bring its bourgeoning play on the road to Florida this week.

Hoops Team Pulls Out Another Tight One In Boca Raton, 78-76
Jordan Williams scored a team-high 19 points and Colin Voss pulled down the night's biggest rebound and converted the game-clinching free throws for a gritty 78-76 win over Florida Atlantic.

With six games to play, only two games separate the Mean Green, which is tied for ninth place, and fifth place Old Dominion. The road to make up those two games won't be easy since NT plays four of its last six games away from the Super Pit, where the Mean Green is 10-5 this year.

While NT has taken the last three meetings against Florida Atlantic, the games have been far a runaway. Last year's meeting was decided on the final play, and the three meetings before that combined for four overtime periods. The last four games between NT and FAU were decided by an average of 4.5 points.

Jordan Williams has always been a menace for Florida Atlantic. The senior has yet to lose to FAU, and is averaging 15.7 points in three career games against the Owls. He is shooting 44.4 percent shooting from 3-point and 19-of-21 (90.5 percent) from the line. Last year, Williams had 19 points on 3-of-4 shooting from deep in NT's 78-76 victory in Boca Raton. He has never scored fewer than 14 points against FAU.
