The Recovery Board encourages the public to report suspected fraud, waste, or abuse involving ARRA funds. All reports are closely reviewed, and if any warrant investigation, they are referred to the appropriate Inspector General.
From February 2009 to December 31, 2013, the Inspectors General have reported 4,435 complaints of wrongdoing associated with ARRA funds to the Recovery Board, 1,553 of the complaints triggered open investigations.
In that time, the Inspectors General have also completed 3,049 reviews of activity involving ARRA funds, many of which have resulted in recommendations to the agencies for improving the management of these funds.
To ensure that legal and administrative requirements of ARRA programs are met, the Inspectors General offer training.
In addition , the Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency (CIGIE) conducts oversight of federal agencies' implementation of the Recovery Act. The most recent report is below.
