Employees enjoy a number of perks associated with the university campuses and components.

• Tuition Scholarship Benefit

  The tuition scholarship benefit is available to faculty, staff, certain dependents and retirees at all components of the UNT System. The scholarship pays the cost of Board of Regents-designated tuition and mandatory fees. Scholarship beneficiaries first must meet academic requirements for admission, and then may apply for the scholarship by the 12th day of class for each semester enrolled. The State of Texas also offers tuition exemptions through its College for all Texans program. Find a detailed explanation of tuition in the Texas Education Code, Chapter 54.

  • Find the scholarship application form (best viewed using Firefox browser) for UNT and UNT Dallas, which must be submitted to Student Accounting and University Cashiering Service at UNT in Denton. 
  • Find criteria and an application for the President's Educational Scholarship at UNTHSC, which must be submitted to the Student Financial Office at UNTHSC in Fort Worth.

• Merchandise Discounts

  PerkSpot, initiated by the UNT Staff Senate, offers discounted merchandise, services and products to employees at all UNT System entities. Enrollment is free; log in or create an account.

  The Employee Retirement System of Texas (ERS) offers a Discount Purchase Program administered by Beneplace. Discounts on merchandise, travel, and services are available to active full-time and part-time employees, retirees and their families.

• Campus Activities/Performing Arts/Lectures/Sports

  • Performing arts – The UNT Department of Dance and Theatre offers ticket price discounts to faculty and staff. UNT also is home to an internationally recognized College of Music and the Murchison Performing Arts Center. (Many performances are streamed free and live online.) Faculty and staff may show an employee ID to receive discounted tickets, usually priced at $8-$10. As we proudly note, you can pay $10 per ticket now or wait five years and pay much more to see these talented alumni as professionals at major venues around the world.
  • Lectures – UNT‘s Distinguished Lecture Series presentations are available to faculty and staff free or with discounted price tickets. Speakers have included President George W. Bush, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Science Guy Bill Nye and Apple designer Steve Wozniak. Scientific, medical and research-related presentations are regularly scheduled on the UNTHSC campus.
  • Library – The Willis Library at UNT, Gibson D. Lewis Health Science Library at UNTHSC, the library at UNT Dallas and at the UNT Dallas College of Law library allow employee use. Identification is required.
  • Meals – Discounts are available at student dining facilities at UNT and UNT Dallas. Restaurants in Denton and near UNTHSC in Fort Worth regularly offer discounts to employees.
  • NCAA Sports – Faculty and staff may purchase ticket packages for NCAA Division I sports at UNT. The Mean Green athletic teams are members of Conference USA. Football games are played in Denton at Apogee Stadium, basketball in the UNT Coliseum and softball, soccer, tennis, volleyball, golf and swimming are scheduled at UNT's campus facilities. Apogee Stadium has received national recognition for its eco-friendly construction and operation.
  • Recreational sports – The Founders Activity Center (UNTHSC) and Pohl Recreation Center (UNT) offer faculty and staff discounts for exercise and fitness programs. Faculty and staff at each campus also may participate in student and community activities such as fun runs and fitness challenges. UNT Dallas has basketball and soccer facilities and fields.
