Prevent Group B Strep App for Obstetric and Neonatal Providers
Streamlines Guidelines Interpretation
"Prevent Group B Strep" is a standalone application that provides patient-specific and scenario-specific guidance consistent with the 2010 Guidelines for the Prevention of Perinatal GBS Disease. The app generates customized guidelines based on user input of patient characteristics.
With this app, you can:
- Select your portal - obstetric or neonatal - and answer questions about your patient
- Receive specific patient management guidance based on the scenario you have entered
- Obtain appropriate antibiotic regimens for obstetric patients requiring intrapartum prophylaxis

Peer Tested and Endorsed
The app was developed in collaboration with and endorsed by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM), and American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). Intended users include those providing obstetric or neonatal care (e.g., obstetricians, neonatologists, nurse-midwives, family practitioners, neonatal nurses, etc.)
Use the "Prevent Group B Strep" app to achieve better implementation of evidence-based guidelines to prevent cases of GBS disease.
Extensive beta-testing of "Prevent Group B Strep" was performed. In addition to GBS subject matter experts at CDC, stakeholders from ACOG, AAP, ACNM, and AAFP informed the app development. Additional beta-testers, including several private obstetric providers as well as pediatric and obstetric providers in training, were involved in content development and design of the user interface.

Access the GBS Tool from the Web
If you do not have a device that supports the app, you can access a web version when connected to the internet through a mobile device or computer. If you use the web version of "Prevent Group B Strep," we recommend adjusting the screen size to look like a smartphone for a better user experience.
