Anyone had issues with IIS 6 whereby changing the app pool on a site stops the W3SVC service, and all websites stop as well?

After I tried to update to Ubuntu 12.10 many times and getting error messages just before the end (Same happened when I tried to update to 12.04 LTS and I finally had to remove and re-install Ubuntu to get the update), I decided to download the new Ubuntu from their official torrent and try to update it that way. *Edit: It's 64 bit, plenty of RAM, good graphics card, plenty of space on drive and running dual monitors, though not sure if any of that would matter. Also the Virtualbox OS is Win XP.
