Broadside Summer Children’s Programs
Thanks to the 486 students who took part in 2013 Broadside summer history camps at Jamestown Settlement and Yorktown Victory Center! Stay tuned for an announcement in January about 2014 Broaside summer programs.
The Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation offers summer history programs for local area children at Jamestown Settlement and the Yorktown Victory Center.
Whether it’s picking up a few words of the Algonquian language of the Powhatan Indians or learning critical signals sent between troops during the American Revolution, the programs offer children summer fun with an educational twist on colonial American history through hands-on activities, visits to outdoor interpretive areas and a take-home craft. Classes are offered to children age 4 through fifth grade.
Broadside programs are held in classrooms at each museum. Children are engaged in fun and educational activities, such as stories, games and crafts, and visits to the museum galleries and outdoor living-history areas. A snack is provided. Advance registration is required. For information, call (757) 253-4731.
