Continuous School Improvement

Walker Staff meets frequently to evaluate our progress and to strive for improving our school. We have Two current School Improvement Goals.

As we work towards improving our school, we consider our Educational Beliefs: the Walker Vision Statement, the Walker Mission Statement, and our Educational Philosophy.

Our Continuous School Improvement Goals

S. M. A. R. T.  Goal: Goal 1:   By May 2013, all students will demonstrate improvement in writing skills by being able to write his/her thoughts in a clear, focused, personable manner, as measured by:

  2. an increase in the number of students scoring proficient on a pre/post written response to a teacher created writing prompt (as measured by the KY Holistic Scoring Rubric.)
  3. increase in the number of students scoring higher on the Reading Streets Baseline Vocabulary Test (baseline established in Fall 2010).

70% of the students scoring at the 3 or greater level on a teacher-created open-response question by the end of the school year (as scored by a teacher-created rubric).

S. M. A. R. T. Goal:  Goal 2: By 2013, all students will improve critical thinking processes across the curriculum to reflect his/her ability to define a problem and devise a reasoned/justifiable resolution as measured by:
