COL Eric L. Sanchez



    COL Eric L. Sanchez is a 1987 Distinguished Military Graduate of New Mexico State University. Upon commissioning he served at Fort Bliss, Texas, from 1988-1992 as a Platoon Leader and Battery Executive Officer in the 3rd Battalion, 43rd Air Defense Artillery Regiment and deployed in support of Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm in 1991. From 1992-1995 he served as the Battalion Logistics Officer, and commanded D Battery, 2nd Battalion, 43rd Air Defense Artillery Regiment, deploying the unit twice to Southwest Asia. From 1995-1997 he instructed at the Intelligence Officer Basic Course, Fort Huachuca, Arizona. From 1997-1999 he was assigned as the Information Warfare Officer, Joint Intelligence Center Pacific, Hawaii. Following graduation from Command and General Staff College, he served as S-3 and XO of 2nd Battalion 43rd Air Defense Artillery Regiment from 2000-2002. He served as the Deputy Commanding Officer, 108th Air Defense Artillery Brigade from 2002-2003 and deployed in support of the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force during Operation Iraqi Freedom. From 2003-2005 he served on the United States Pacific Command Staff. From 2005-2006 he assisted in the stand up of the 94th Army Air and Missile Defense Command, Fort Shafter, Hawaii. In June 2006, he assumed command of the 1st Battalion 7th Air Defense Artillery Regiment and deployed the unit to the Republic of Korea from 2007-2008. From 2008-2010 he served as Deputy Director, TRADOC Capabilities Manager-Lower Tier. He is a 2011 Distinguished Graduate of the Naval War College.

    COL Sanchez awards include the Bronze Star (1st Oak Leaf Cluster), Defense Meritorious Service Medal (1st Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Meritorious Service Medal (2nd Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Commendation Medal with V device and (2nd Oak Leaf Cluster), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement (1st Oak Leaf Cluster), Overseas ribbon (1st Oak Leaf Cluster), National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terror Service medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, and the Kuwait Liberation Medal.
