Headquarters Marine Corps

Your Benefits
Federal government employees enjoy a wide range of "family-friendly" benefits that go far beyond insurance and retirement. While there are various options, each agency is free to offer its own benefits package. The Marine Corps offers its civilian personnel access to various benefits including insurance, retirement savings, and other work/life programs.

Benefits Overview
These options include:
  • Dental and vision insurance (FEDVIP)      [Benefeds]
  • Long term care insurance (FLTCIP)          [FLTCIP
  • Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAFeds)    [FSAFeds
  • Health care insurance (FEHB)                   [EBIS
  • Thrift Savings Program (TSP)                    [EBIS
  • Life Insurance (FEGLI)                               [EBIS]

You can begin the enrollment process for some of these programs now. However, after you arrive for your first day, you will have 90 days to finalize which benefits (and specific programs) you would like to utilize. You'll find the complete range of options available to you after you receive your Common Access Card (CAC) in the section entitled "Your Federal Personnel and Benefits Records" under the item Phase 4: Your First 90 Days in the menu to your right.

After this initial open period, your opportunities to select new options or update existing choices become far more limited; you will only be able to do so during specified “open seasons” or when you experience a “Qualifying Life Event.” As such, it is very important that you consider all options and utilize all available resources while making your initial benefit elections.

For detailed information regarding the benefits available to Civilian Marines (including information about open seasons and qualifying life events), please either click on the "HQMC Benefits Information" button to your right.

For general resources regarding benefits, leave, and pay please click on the "Benefits, Leave & Pay Information" button to your right or visit: http://www.usa.gov/Federal-Employees/Benefits.shtml.

Civilian Marine employees who have benefits questions can call the Department of the Navy (DON) Benefits Line at (888) 320-2917 and select option 4 to talk to a Customer Service Representative (CSR). CSR’s are available from 7:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. (Eastern Time). Monday through Friday, except on federal holidays.
