USAID programs focus on improving the quality, availability, and use of health and family planning services in these areas:
  • Environmental Health
    Reducing childhood mortality and morbidity by improving environmental conditions and reducing exposure to infectious diseases

  • Health Systems Strengthening
    Improving the capacity of health systems to provide quality health care services at the national and local levels

  • HIV/AIDS
    Providing prevention, care, and support for individuals, communities, and nations affected by the pandemic

  • Infectious Diseases
    Reducing the global threat of tuberculosis, malaria, and antimicrobial resistance, and improving disease surveillance

  • Maternal and Child Health
    Improving the future for mothers and children through programs in safe motherhood and prevention and treatment of primary causes of childhood mortality

  • Nutrition
    Confronting malnutrition in women and children through programs in breastfeeding, micronutrients, and food and nutrition policy

  • Family Planning
    Providing voluntary reproductive health care choices to women and men so they can determine the number and spacing of their children

  • Highly Vulnerable Children
    Coordinating USG assistance for orphans and vulnerable children and open up opportunities for them to lead healthy, productive lives.
