- Be Prepared! Know your rights and responsibilities as an employee or manager.
- Report any unfair or harassing treatment.
- If you feel comfortable, tell the person
harassing you to stop.
- Report the behavior to your manager or another
manager in your company.
- Talk to your parents, teachers, or another
adult.
- File a complaint with the EEOC.
- If you need a workplace change because of your
religious beliefs or disability, ask. Be prepared to provide your
employer with enough information about your request so that it can
determine how to best help you.
- Be sensitive to others and act professionally.
- Treat your co-workers the way you want to be
treated.
- Don't assume your behavior is ok just because
no one has objected.
- If someone indicates that your behavior is
unwanted or objectionable, stop doing it and don't do it
again.
- Never assume that friendliness equals sexual
interest.
- Keep records including witness names,
telephone numbers and addresses. Document how you were treated as
an employee or how you treated individuals as a manager.
- Know the deadlines for reporting
discrimination and harassment to the EEOC.
- Remember, you cannot legally be punished or
fired for reporting job discrimination.
