The Department of the Navy awards program recognizes and rewards civilian employees (and, to a limited extent, military personnel) whose performance contributes significantly to the Navy’s mission.

Good performance can be acknowledged in many ways, from offering a sincere "Thank You!" for a job well done to granting the highest level of honorary awards, to awarding cash incentives, and other ways. Recognition and awards are an essential component of any total rewards program.
