McMorris Rodgers Statement on House Passage of "Require a PLAN Act"

February 6, 2013

WASHINGTON – House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) issued the following statement today after the House passed the “Require a PLAN Act”:

“Today the House acted to hold the President accountable to produce a balanced budget. We acted to make the economy stronger for hardworking taxpayers, and we acted to make the Democrats who run Washington implement a plan to control spending.

“While Americans all across this country are forced to live within their means every day, President Obama and Senate Democrats continue to spend money we don’t have. Their out-of-control spending hurts every single American: moms, dads, seniors, college graduates, business owners and children. This must stop.

“House Republicans are proud to have passed the ‘Require a PLAN Act,’ which will force President Obama to explain to the American people how he intends to balance the budget. The consequences of not having a responsible budget for a household are dangerous, but the consequences of not having a responsible budget for the country are far more devastating. For the sake of our future, the President owes us a plan."
