The Japan District is one of the four districts in the DoDDS-Pacific Area of the world-wide Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) system. There are 21 schools in the district, all accredited through the AdvancED Accreditation Process, comprised of 6 complexes, 18 campuses and 75 buildings – some dating as far back as 1930.

Our district is one of the largest in DoDEA as it spans a distance of over a thousand miles from Misawa Air Base in the north to Sasebo Naval Base in the south. We have approximately 8,800 students and over 1,000 employees including administrators, educators, educational aides and clerical staff. Our district serves all of the military branches including the Air Force, Army, Marines, Navy and Coast Guard. The Japan District serves family members of the Yokota Air Base Community, Camp Zama Army Community, NAS Atsugi Community, Commander Fleet Activities Yokosuka Community, MCAS Iwakuni Community, Commander Fleet Activities Sasebo Community, and Misawa Air Base/NAF Misawa Community.
