Training Course: Promoting Fair and Impartial Policing Training

Course Description: The Fair and Impartial Policing TOT Program allows teams of trainers, from academies and other law enforcement training organizations, to learn to implement both the recruit/patrol officers’ and first-line supervisors’ curricula. Training Course: Education-Based Discipline Program – Alternative to Employee Discipline
Mode of Delivery: Informational Briefings, Informational Video, Train-the-Trainer sessions, and EBD trainings

Target Audience: Law Enforcement Professionals, city/county managers, police union leaders, police oversight members, police psychologists
Course Description: The Education-Based Discipline (EBD) program is a progressive disciplinary program that ensures employee accountability and development of a tailored remedial plan designed to lessen the likelihood of recurring offenses. EBD provides an option for employees to voluntarily participate in an individualized remedial plan that emphasizes education, training, and other creative interventions which promote a successful outcome. The education and training program focuses on problem-solving and self-management; skill enhancement; boundary recognition; substance misuse/abuse awareness; character reinforcement; and mitigating and aggravating factors. The employee’s changed behavior will advance community policing, agency effectiveness, and employee morale. The training and technical assistance provided by the Regional Community Policing Institute- CA will include EBD informational briefings, an Informational Video, as well as Train-the-Trainer classes for two ethics classes offered to EBD participants.
