CSM Rodney D. Harris
Command Sergeant Major Harris is a native of Texas. He enlisted to serve as an Infantryman in the United States Army in 1985 and attended One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Georgia.
Command Sergeant Major Harris’ overseas assignments include three tours in the Federal Republic of Germany, four tours to South West Asia, and one tour each to Macedonia, Bosnia, and Kosovo. His stateside assignments include tours at Fort Hood, Texas; Fort Stewart, Georgia; Fort Polk, Louisiana; and Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He has served in positions as an Infantryman to include Rifleman, Team Leader, and Squad Leader to Rifle Platoon Sergeant, M2Bradley Driver, Gunner, Bradley Commander, Bradley Master Gunner, Rifle Company First Sergeant, Operation Sergeant Major 1-9 CAV OIF II, Command Sergeant Major 1-12 CAV OIF 06-08, Command Sergeant Major 177th Armor Brigade, and most recently as the United States Corps of Cadets Command Sergeant Major at the United States Military Academy, West Point.
His military education includes Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Non-Commissioned Officers Course, Advanced Non-Commissioned Officers Course, First Sergeant’s Course, United States Army Sergeant’s Major Course, Command Sergeant’s Major Course, Airborne School, Bradley Master Gunner Course, and the Master Fitness Trainer Course. He has earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Toro University.
His awards include the Legion of Merit with oak leaf cluster, Bronze Star with Valor, Bronze Star with oak leaf cluster, Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Army Commendation Medal with four oak leaf clusters, Army Achievement Medal with six oak leaf clusters, German Armed Forces Marksmanship Badge, Expert Infantryman’s Badge, Parachutists Badge and the Combat Infantryman’s Badge with Star.
