Congressman Dana Rohrabacher represents California's 48th District. Stretching along the Pacific coastline of Orange County from Seal Beach to Laguna Beach, the district includes Seal Beach, Sunset Beach, Surfside, Corona del Mar, Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach, Laguna Beach, Aliso Viejo, Newport Coast, Newport Beach, Laguna Niguel, Fountain Valley as well as portions of Midway City, Westminster, Santa Ana and Garden Grove.
Aerospace, scientific and research companies, construction, real estate, small manufacturing and tourism are the major economic activities in the 48th District. Institutions of higher education in the district include Vanguard University of Southern California, Coastline Community College, Golden West College, Orange Coast College, Soka University of America and Whittier Law School.
Federal, state and local parks and beaches include the Seal Beach National Wildlife Refuge, Huntington Beach’s world famous “Surf City” shoreline beach park, Upper Newport Harbor Ecological Preserve, Crystal Cove State Beach located between Newport Beach and Laguna Beach, Bolsa Chica State Beach and Ecological Reserve, and Huntington Central Park. Military installations and facilities in the 48th District comprise the Seal Beach Naval Weapons Station and the U.S. Coast Guard Station in Newport Harbor.
The region is served by John Wayne Airport (SNA), the only Orange County airport that provides commercial passenger and air cargo service.
